Born and raised in Southeast Alaska, Mike Satre has over 28 years of technical and management experience within the mining industry. His professional background consists of work as a geologist in open-pit and underground mines in Nevada and Alaska. In 2013, Mike became the Manager of Government and Community Relations for the Hecla Greens Creek Mine in Alaska and in 2021 became the corporate Director – Governmental Affairs for Hecla. Hecla is a 135-year-old American mining company and the largest primary silver producer in the United States with operations in Idaho, Alaska, Quebec, Yukon, and projects in Nevada, Montana, and Mexico.In addition to his Hecla roles, Mike is a past president of the American Exploration and Mining Association and the Alaska Miners Association and is a past Chairman of the Alaska Chamber. He currently serves on the board of Montana Mining Association and the Alaska Resource Development Council.
