Marty Fittante began to lead InvestUP, a private sector-led economic development organization serving the Upper Peninsula, in 2019. After working on issues facing the U.P. while on staff with the Michigan legislature for 14 years, Fittante brought his passion for the Upper Peninsula to InvestUP. Since taking on its leadership, Fittante has: grown the investment base of the organization by 250%; stood up a $15 million housing fund; established a $5.6 million outdoor innovation fund; instituted three programs with higher education partners to engage students in local economic development; and helped secure the largest state incentive ever awarded to the region, a $200 million business development grant.In addition to his work with InvestUP, Fittante serves as a member of the Mackinac Bridge Authority and was appointed by Governor Whitmer as the co-chair of the Jobs, Talent, and People Workgroup for the Grow Michigan Together Council. Fittante is also a member of Economic Development Leaders of Michigan, where he served as Chair in 2024, the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance. Serves on the board for the Citizen’s Research Council, and was named the inaugural Advocate for Economic Development Advancement by the Michigan Economic Developers Association.
